Tai Po FC terminates Gabriel Mesquita's contract

Tai Po Football Club on Tuesday said it has mutually agreed with player Gabriel Mesquita to terminate his contract with immediate effect. The Brazilian had been suspended from first-team training since Monday for allegedly sending racist messages on his social media account after being provoked by a comment. Writing on social media, the club said its Disciplinary Committee completed its investigation and internal proceedings in a fair and objective manner, during which Mesquita had the opportunity to state his case. The club added that it maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against racism and improper conduct. The 19-year-old midfielder made two appearances for Tai Po since joining the club this summer.
