Tucson HVAC Contractor Steps Up to the Plate for MS Cure Again in 2018

Tucson, AZ – March 12, 2018 – While raising awareness for a cure for MS is the focus of the 25th Annual Walk MS organized in Tucson by the National MS Society, the donation platter stops again this year at the door of corporate donors. And just like last year, D&H Air Conditioning & Heating (www.dandhac.com) is stepping up to the plate for the cause.

For the Tucson-based HVAC contractor, the cause is not theoretical but personal: Jackie, the wife of a long-time employee, has been diagnosed with MS in 2009. Always the fighter, Jackie has been an active volunteer for the cause ever since she received news about her medical condition. But today, some 9 years into her ordeal, she is seeing her health decline, more rapidly than before.

While Jackie and her husband are looking at experimental treatments as possible alternatives to the predictable outcome of her illness, they both continue to volunteer for the National MS Society. And this year again, Randy knocked at the door of his employer on behalf of the Society.

In turn, the President of D&H AC called the Houston-based headquarters of HVAC system manufacturer Daikin. And just like in 2017, Daikin agreed to donate a complete air conditioning system to the winner of an auction organized by the National MS Society in the course of the 25th Annual Walk MS event. D&H AC will donate the value of the engineering and installation labor.

Brett Wright, President of D&H AC, stated: “Both Daikin and D&H AC hope their combined efforts will help Jackie and Randy raise close to $10,000 for the National MS Society this year. We are keenly aware that our effort is a drop in the bucket. But we also know that by joining other Tucson-based employers to set an example in the community, the research will continue to get funded and a cure will eventually be found.”

On March 17, the Daikin air conditioning system will go on the auction block. The highest bidder will receive a unit completely tailored by D&H AC for their home, and 100% of the auction proceeds will benefit the National MS Society. Just like last year, Jackie and her husband will make the 25th Annual Walk MS count to help those battling this illness. They both will be leading the ‘Jogging for Jackie’ team.

Bellinger slams sinking Mets; Dodgers win 5-2 behind Wood

Jun 23, 2018

NEW YORK — One timely swing by slumping Cody Bellinger turned a nip-and-tuck game in favor of the Dodgers. Bellinger hit a grand slam to break a scoreless tie in the sixth inning and Los Angeles beat the sinking New York Mets 5-2 on Friday night behind Alex Wood's effective pitching. "Yeah, it felt good," said Bellinger, who began the night batting .231. "I was just honestly trying to hit the ball any way I could and luckily I connected." Yasiel Puig added a solo home run in the ninth, and the defending NL champions won their 10th straight against...

Trade action slow on first night of NHL draft

Jun 23, 2018

DALLAS — Rasmus Dahlin went first overall to the Buffalo Sabres, Commissioner Gary Bettman was booed relentlessly by the crowd all night and trade chatter didn't amount to a whole lot of movement. With the exception of one trade by the Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals, the first round of the NHL draft went off without many surprises. Only two players and a handful of picks were traded Friday night, leaving general managers hoping for more on Day Two. "That was kind of a boring first day or first round," Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall said. "It's not typical for...

Herrera robs HR, triples in run as Royals beat Astros 1-0

Jun 23, 2018

HOUSTON — Royals rookie Rosell Herrera kept the game scoreless with a home-run robbery in the eighth inning and hit an RBI triple in the ninth, and struggling Kansas City beat the Houston Astros 1-0 on Friday night. Herrera helped the Royals end a nine-game skid by bringing back Alex Bregman's would-be homer. The right fielder reached over the short outfield wall to snag the first out in the eighth. Adalberto Mondesi then singled off Ken Giles (0-2) to start the ninth, stole second and took third on a flyout by Whit Merrifield. Herrera then sent a ball to center...

Minor pitches Rangers past Twins for 6th straight win

Jun 23, 2018

MINNEAPOLIS — Mike Minor threw six solid innings, Shin-Soo Choo homered and the Texas Rangers beat the Minnesota Twins 8-1 on Friday night for their sixth consecutive victory. Bouncing back from a rough May, Minor (5-4) has thrown three straight quality starts for the first time since throwing six straight in 2014 for Atlanta. He allowed one run and three hits, lowering his ERA for June to 2.84. Choo's two-run shot off Fernando Romero (3-3) made it 4-0 in the fifth. It was his second homer on Texas' six-game road trip. Minor faced the minimum number of batters through five...

Martinez HR helps Red Sox rally from 5 down, top M's 14-10

Jun 23, 2018

BOSTON — J.D. Martinez homered and drove in five, and the Boston Red Sox rallied from a five-run deficit to beat the Seattle Mariners 14-10 on Friday night despite a monster game from Nelson Cruz. Cruz had a pair of three-run homers and drove in seven, but the Mariners still lost their season-worst fifth straight game, including three earlier this week at Yankee Stadium. Seattle led 4-0 and 10-5 before a wild Red Sox rally fueled by RBIs from eight different players. Martinez went 4 for 5, including a two-run homer in the sixth and two doubles. The Red Sox...
