Tucson HVAC Contractor Steps Up to the Plate for MS Cure Again in 2018

Tucson-based HVAC contractor D&H AC and HVAC manufacturer Daikin will donate close to $10,000 to the National MS Society for the 25th Annual Walk MS to take place in Tucson on 3/17/2018.

Tucson, AZ – March 12, 2018 – While raising awareness for a cure for MS is the focus of the 25th Annual Walk MS organized in Tucson by the National MS Society, the donation platter stops again this year at the door of corporate donors. And just like last year, D&H Air Conditioning & Heating (www.dandhac.com) is stepping up to the plate for the cause.

For the Tucson-based HVAC contractor, the cause is not theoretical but personal: Jackie, the wife of a long-time employee, has been diagnosed with MS in 2009. Always the fighter, Jackie has been an active volunteer for the cause ever since she received news about her medical condition. But today, some 9 years into her ordeal, she is seeing her health decline, more rapidly than before.

While Jackie and her husband are looking at experimental treatments as possible alternatives to the predictable outcome of her illness, they both continue to volunteer for the National MS Society. And this year again, Randy knocked at the door of his employer on behalf of the Society.

In turn, the President of D&H AC called the Houston-based headquarters of HVAC system manufacturer Daikin. And just like in 2017, Daikin agreed to donate a complete air conditioning system to the winner of an auction organized by the National MS Society in the course of the 25th Annual Walk MS event. D&H AC will donate the value of the engineering and installation labor.

Brett Wright, President of D&H AC, stated: “Both Daikin and D&H AC hope their combined efforts will help Jackie and Randy raise close to $10,000 for the National MS Society this year. We are keenly aware that our effort is a drop in the bucket. But we also know that by joining other Tucson-based employers to set an example in the community, the research will continue to get funded and a cure will eventually be found.”

On March 17, the Daikin air conditioning system will go on the auction block. The highest bidder will receive a unit completely tailored by D&H AC for their home, and 100% of the auction proceeds will benefit the National MS Society. Just like last year, Jackie and her husband will make the 25th Annual Walk MS count to help those battling this illness. They both will be leading the ‘Jogging for Jackie’ team.

AP Source: Rockets trading Carmelo Anthony to Chicago

Jan 22, 2019

MILWAUKEE — Carmelo Anthony is going to Chicago, albeit only on paper. Where he's going next remains unclear. A person with direct knowledge of the matter said the Houston Rockets are trading Anthony and an undisclosed amount of cash to the Bulls in a deal that is expected to be completed Tuesday. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Monday because the trade still needs league approval. When that comes — the only reason why it didn't happen Monday is because the NBA office was closed to commemorate the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday —...

Fournier, Vucevic power Magic past Hawks, 122-103

Jan 22, 2019

ATLANTA — Though only 11th in the Eastern Conference standings, the Orlando Magic are talking about their playoff hopes. One spot back in 12th, the Atlanta Hawks have not shown the consistency needed to join that discussion. Evan Fournier and Nikola Vucevic scored 29 points apiece to lead the Magic to a 122-103 victory over the Hawks on Monday in the season's first matchup between the Southeast Division rivals. Vucevic had 14 rebounds and Fournier had seven assists as Orlando snapped a three-game losing streak. Dewayne Dedmon led Atlanta with 24 points on the holiday celebrating Martin Luther King Jr....

Antetokounmpo has 31 points as Bucks beat Mavericks 116-106

Jan 22, 2019

MILWAUKEE — Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks' offense as usual Monday, with a little help from Brook Lopez's blossoming long-range shooting. On the other end of the floor, Lopez helped Milwaukee clamp down in a Martin Luther King Jr. Day matinee. Antetokounmpo had 31 points and 15 rebounds, Lopez had five blocks and 10 rebounds, and the Bucks beat the Dallas Mavericks 116-106. "We have a lot of firepower offensively," Lopez said. "But we definitely make our money and get our bread on the defensive end. That's what really identifies this team." Lopez has 11 blocked shots in the past...

Paqueta proving he's worth the hype as settles at AC Milan

Jan 22, 2019

MILAN — Lucas Paqueta is settling in at AC Milan and beginning to prove he is worth the hype. While the Brazil international did not score in a 2-0 win at Genoa on Monday, he was at the heart of most of the Rossoneri's good play and hit the woodwork. Fabio Borini and Suso scored as Milan moved back into fourth spot in Serie A and the final Champions League qualifying berth. "I was amazed by him (Paqueta), both on a physical and tactical level," Borini said. "He likes to display his skills, but he's very intelligent at the same...

Giannis and Kostas Antetokounmpo connect in Milwaukee

Jan 22, 2019

MILWAUKEE — Giannis Antetokounmpo had 18,000 fans in the stands and one on the opposing bench. Monday's game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Dallas Mavericks was an impromptu reunion for brothers Giannis and Kostas Antetokounmpo, one of them likely to be announced later this week as a captain for the All-Star Game and the other still looking for his NBA debut. Kostas Antetokounmpo accompanied Dallas on its road trip, but his only on-court action came during warmups. They left the arena together, alongside their mother. "I wish I'd played against him," Giannis Antetokounmpo said. "But those few moments that...
