St. Louis, United States - March 14, 2018 /PressCable/ —

St. Louis, MO (March 14, 2018)—As we move toward the middle of the calendar year, a period begins when many high school juniors consider the most stressful and challenging time of their young lives. Not only are students expected to keep up their grades in the toughest courses in secondary school, but they will also need to excel on a variety of standardized tests on which colleges place great importance for acceptance or scholarships. For many young adults, these are the first challenges of adulthood, as much a test of focus as it is a test of knowledge.

To help take some of the pressure off these students, Mackler Associates offer short and long-term programs of instruction. All programs are customized for individual, one-on-one tutelage, and each has been proven to raise ACT and SAT scores significantly, as well as securing 4s and 5s on the numerous AP exams administered in May. Mackler Associates is a standardized testing preparation and tutoring agency that helps students attain higher grades, better test scores, and admission to desired colleges. The agency specializes in the ACT (American College Testing) and the SAT (Scholastic Assessment/Aptitude Test), the two most important exams for college entry. Resources are available for students, parents, and teachers, at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. There are also mentoring programs that prepare young people for life after primary school, and case studies that other educators can use to improve their own methods.

The last opportunities to take the SAT or ACT before the end of the school year are fast approaching. Students can sign up to take a Mackler SAT or ACT prep course by March 31st and receive $100 off of the regular fee. Here are the upcoming testing dates for the two tests: ACT—April 14, June 9, and July 14; SAT—May 5, June 2.

The Latest: Zach Johnson wins last 4 holes to earn a halve

Mar 21, 2018

AUSTIN, Texas — The Latest on the Dell Technologies Match Play (all times local): 5:40 p.m. Zach Johnson earned a halve against Matt Kuchar, and it felt like a win. A big win. Kuchar was 4 up with four holes to play in the Match Play when Johnson won the last four holes with birdies. Johnson twice made putts inside 15 feet, made it from 6 feet on the 17th and then drove to the front of the 18th green and two-putted for birdie. Defending champion Dustin Johnson would take that. The world's No. 1 player was 2 down with...

Police: Maryland school shooter used his father's handgun

Mar 21, 2018

GREAT MILLS, Md. — A teenager used his father's legally-owned handgun in an attack inside his high school in Maryland, police said Wednesday. Austin Rollins, 17, was killed Tuesday morning at Great Mills High School when a school resource officer fired off a shot at the attacker. It was not yet clear whether Rollins took his own life with his father's semi-automatic Glock handgun or was killed by the officer's bullet. Investigators with the St. Mary's County sheriff's office said Rollins shot a 16-year-old girl in a hallway within minutes of entering the high school. Rollins and the girl had...

UCI steps up bid to deter would-be motorized-cycling cheats

Mar 21, 2018

GENEVA — The chief of cycling's governing body says it is pulling out the technological stops to deter would-be cheats from sneaking tiny, tough-to-detect motors into their bike frames, as the sport seeks to head off another possible credibility problem after its longtime doping plague. David Lappartient of UCI made the comments during a media presentation in Geneva to showcase existing and future tools used to scan bicycles — magnetic fields, x-rays, thermal detectors, simple physical checks, and other techniques that could put to rest swirling speculation that some riders might try to get a battery boost. In particular, UCI...

Experts: Hard to convict officer in Australian woman's death

Mar 21, 2018

MINNEAPOLIS — The police officer who was with a Minneapolis officer charged with murder and manslaughter in the death of an unarmed Australian woman said both men "got spooked" when she approached their SUV, and that the partner feared for his life. But prosecutors say Officer Mohamed Noor acted recklessly and was not justified in using deadly force when he shot Justine Ruszczyk Damond last July after she called to report a possible sexual assault behind her home. The case, which has drawn international attention, presents challenges for both sides. If it goes to a trial, a jury must decide...

2nd high bond set in Stoneman Douglas-related case

Mar 21, 2018

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A relatively high bond was imposed Wednesday in a case involving a student who brought a knife to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, one day after the same judge set a $500,000 bond for the brother of the shooting suspect for trespassing at the school. Broward County Judge Kim Theresa Mollica ordered 18-year-old Jordan Salter held on $12,500 bond after she brought a knife with a 2-inch (5-centimeter) blade to the school. Authorities arrested her after a confrontation with another student Tuesday in the school cafeteria. The SunSentinel reports that Salter attorney Brian Reidy called the...
